Carbon Capture Turf

A NEW BREED OF TURF THAT LOCKS UP CARBON FASTER THAN A FOREST AND NEEDS LESS MOWING THAN ORDINARY TURF

How CARBON CAPTURE TURF works:

  • Carbon monoxide is taken out of the atmosphere and absorbed by the millions of specially developed grass plants which make up the turf.
  • The carbon Monoxide is locked up in the soil and in the roots of the turf.
  • CARBON CAPTURE TURF absorbs more greenhouse gases more quickly than ordinary turf and is even more efficient than trees at sequestering carbon!

FOR PROJECTS WHERE SUSTAINABILITY IS AN ISSUE, CARBON CAPTURE TURF SHOULD BE IN YOUR DESIGN TOOLKIT

It's an established fact that spending time in green open spaces is good for people and that green spaces are good for the environment in a number of ways.

If people hadn't dug up so many gardens but had created lawns and planted shrubs and trees, instead of pouring concrete, much of the flooding we've seen in the UK in recent years might have been avoided.

But parks and gardens do more than just let rainwater get back to the aquifers: they improve air quality and are as brilliant for wildlife as they are for people. They make life - especially life in hard pressed urban areas - richer and more varied.

CARBON CAPTURE TURF Provides all the social and environmental benefits of turf grass.

Plus

  • it sequesters atmospheric carbon in the soil at the rate of 13 tonnes per ha per annum within 2½ years of laying. This compares with 2 tonnes per ha per annum for deciduous woodland after 25 years of growth and 11 tonnes per ha per annum for coniferous forest after the same period.
  • a further 47 tonnes of carbon per ha per annum is sequestered in the roots of the turf.
  • CARBON CAPTURE TURF grows at a slower rate than other grass varieties thus reducing maintenance costs and producing fewer clippings.
